Wendy Ackerman designed my home space and fine art studio space. Because I have small square footage, this was a great challenge. Wendy converted my non-functional areas into accessible organized areas where I now work and have access to supplies. Wendy's creative ideas transformed my unbalanced relaxing and eating areas into inviting spaces that are both attractive and comfortable. Her ability to blend cosmetic appeal with functionality is extraordinary. Wendy paid attention and understood my goals as well as my space limitations. She is amazing!

I’ve always wanted to commission an artist to paint a portrait of me yet had put it in the back burner over the years. I guess I was waiting for the right time and the perfect person to do it as I always believed that if a person is patient enough, good things happen. It indeed happened one day when a friend showed me a portrait of herself on her phone. I was very impressed that I asked for the artist’s name, WENDY ACKERMAN. I then did my due diligence and read about Wendy’s works and accomplishments. Long story short, I discussed it with my husband and we both agreed that I have found the right artist to do my portrait.
I contacted Wendy, and after discussing details, we agreed that she’s the ONE. She explained to me that she begins her project by giving it an appropriate TITLE that is interpreted as she looks at her subject and ‘how she carries herself’, one’s speech, body language, facial expressions and grooming. Due to the pandemic (I couldn’t pose for the sketch), she asked me to send her numerous photographs in different poses and angles, as well as to write a brief profile of myself to include happiest places, favorite things, anything of importance to begin collecting ideas for my portrait. Fast forward, I complied with everything she requested and after reading my profile, interests and favorite things, she suggested that I wear leggings and a tank top for actual photos to be sent to her as additional requirement, with no makeup, only foundation.
On the day of unveiling, I was very excited to say the least! Wendy in the weeks before unveiling, periodically sent me a raw sketch, adding colors next and so on and so forth. I really had a great sense about the process she takes, the amount of time she puts in to capture her subject’s personality, qualities and interests, her eye to detail, how very unique and original her ideas are as she puts the portrait together communicating a ‘stand out and stand alone’ message. Her work is uniquely hers, and her marks, colors and design as hers alone. That’s a very special and meaningful quality to me!
Her portrait of me makes me feel happy, alive and vibrant every time I gaze at it as it very much speaks to my heart. It is in a very special place in our living room! The ultimate compliment to Wendy’s work is when family and friends say that my portrait “really looks like me!”.

My husband and I have worked with Wendy for a number of years on projects large and small. From a full kitchen remodel to rug and art designs and everything in between.
Wendy is a wonderful listener and has captured the look and feel we wanted for our home. She is detail oriented and ensures every project exceeds expectations. Her eye for color, space and shape makes every project special. We can’t say enough about her talent.
Wendy is simply exceptional.

Wendy Ackermans’s designs enhance and embrace her client’s taste. Wendy has completed many projects in our midcentury modern 1960’s home.
In 2009, our cabinet designer suggested Wendy to help finish our kitchen remodel. Wendy pulled our project together with her paint color and cabinet accessory selections. She was so gracious to help us at the last minute and produced such great results. Over the next ten years, we called upon Wendy for help with furniture selections, lighting choices, and general decorating guidance. Her suggestions always incorporated some of our own art work and/or furniture.
Thirdly, I called upon Wendy last year to transform my college-bound son’s bedroom into a guest room. Sounds simple, but my requirements were 2 twin beds and an extraordinary specialness for guests to savor. Again, she prevailed with ingenious solutions which included a Murphy Bed/Bookcase which highlights my personal statues and pottery collection. The room is so functional and lovely that we call it “The Forever Room.” Forever because it can be enjoyed by kids, teens or aging adults.
This year, Wendy is finding solutions for our home’s tired, white-painted brick walls. Her designs include sandblasting the brick exterior for a rejuvenating facelift and a total entryway redo. She’s always willing to take on our next project, no matter what size. At one time I thought our house would be a “tear down” when sold. Wendy has transformed it into a home that wows our guest, wows us, and will be appreciated in the future.
We are fortunate to have worked with Wendy and highly recommend her.

I can’t say enough good things about Wendy’s skills as an interior designer. Wendy approached our project from her perspective as an artist, but she also understands that a home is actually lived in, so each piece of furniture she selected is functional, comfortable and attractive. I love how everything fits so well together in our small space!
Wendy was always reliable and respectful of my time. She is a hardworking, thoughtful and thorough professional. Wendy has completed two interior design projects for us, and I look forward to the next opportunity to work together. She is, in my opinion, the very best!

I was contemplating making my first large personal investment in a luxurious condo in downtown Scottsdale in 2010 and I was looking for someone who would help me design a beautiful, modern, sophisticated home that was unique. After Wendy surveyed my rented apartment and personal items she participated in looking for a property that she could envision becoming the beautiful place I was looking for. Her foresight into the place that would match my dreams was incredible! I would not fully understand this until the final product was delivered.
I completely left the details up to her form the wooden wall to the new travertine floors and the color on the walls. To keep costs down she would always have options to consider when finalizing the plan. When I finally sold the place, I received countless comments on how much people loved the wall! I also walked away with significant profit thanks to her designs.

While living nearly 3,000 miles apart, Wendy was able to transfer my living room into my very own sanctuary. I live in South Carolina on a marsh with large picture windows overlooking the always moving water and a huge live oak tree that houses many Great Blue Herons, Egrets and Wood Storks. I had visions of a 9 x 12 rug that would reflect the motion of the water and would blend with a large picture I have on the wall of three canoes sitting on the shore. She sent me several sketches and there wasn't one I did not like. She was able to capture exactly what I wanted. That is, a comfortable, warm and inviting beach house. Wendy will always be the one that I will go to when I want remodeling done. In the competitive business she is in, Wendy is professional, she respects your ideas and is so easy to work with.

Wendy Ackerman is the quintessential designer - a pleasure to work with. She listens to her clients’ ideas and enhances them with her own creative suggestions. She is sensitive to a client’s budget and works with resources that range from conservative to extravagant in cost. While she often uses local resources, she doesn’t hesitate to go to design centers in Los Angeles, New York and sometimes abroad. Some of my favorite items are living room lamps created by an artist in Israel. Wendy will work with an architect and builder if someone is planning a new home or updating a current residence. She designed and helped build my unique living room fireplace.
Wendy is an artist and this is evident in her unique selections. She designs furniture, and she designed and furnished her own fabulous home. Wendy treats her clients professionally. She is always prompt for meetings, never cancels and follows up on orders letting clients know when they can expect a delivery or instillation. It is always a pleasure to refer someone to Wendy because I know they will be as pleased with her as I have been!

I was referred to Wendy Ackerman of Ackerman Art and Design from a friend who is a general contractor. He suggested I contact her to see if she could help. What started out as 1 hour “point me in the right direction” consultation turned into what would be a wonderful transformation and not to mention a fantastic relationship. Over the next few years Wendy turned a house into a place I now truly call home.
Having lived in my house for more than 15 years it was definitely in need of a change. To be perfectly honest, I was extremely confused and horrified at undertaking such a project on my own. Especially not knowing whether or not to simply paint, redecorate or remodel my entire house. First we decided on remodeling the hall bathroom. After seeing how unbelievable the outcome, it was only natural to do the master bathroom as well. Two years later we had completely remodeled my entire home.
As a valley business owner my days are very busy and my time is quite limited. I did not have the time to run from one showroom to another, pick paint colors, artwork or even something as simply as bedding. During the entire process Wendy made everything very effortless. No matter the size, big or small. She was great at always having multiple options to choose from. From custom cabinets to an exquisite carved Japanese panel, several handmade rugs from Nepal that she personally designed by watercolor to provide a 100% custom look. Custom made furniture from local Artisans that resides in every room. I have received numerous compliments on her unbelievable design decisions and incredible attention to detail.
When the project was complete it was bitter sweet because I realized that we wouldn’t have our daily talks. We still communicate on a weekly basis and I'm grateful for that. I would like to thank Wendy Ackerman for your vision and patience with me. I would also like to thank my friend Allen Yates for the referral.

I've worked with Wendy on several custom furniture design projects. I greatly respect her depth of design history and her mastery of color, form and texture.
More than a designer, Wendy is the consummate 'artist'. Her ability to creatively compose all of her knowledge and skills and her commitment to finding 'the' solution that mirrors the unique individual aesthetic of her clients is very impressive.
Yes yes yes, I recommend Ackerman Art & Design!
